yes there is a more abrupt split of partisanship - but something worthy of consideration is the fact that Trump's followers are not far removed (possibly genetically) from Nixon's silent majority. And if Trump is guilty of what he is being charged, they are FAR more serious crimes than that of Richard Nixon.

I also think folks would like to see faith in their govt restored. Those who think govt is their enemy is a pretty fringe too.
