The terms liberal and conservative really have almost no real meaning in todays political climate (other than as an alternate description of democrat or republican).
I look at it as two broad topics for classification:
Fiscally and politically.
Fiscally liberals like to spend lots and lots and lots of taxpayer money. And generally to make things worse than they are.
Politically I think of liberals as liking to make lots of changes- again usually for the worse.
Progressive is a nice word, but today's liberals are anything but progressive.
Looking at the broad classifications you can see why there really is no difference between dems and repubs.
I really wish the words would just disappear from the political lexicon as they are both so badly abused.
Similar to gay for homosexuals. Ruination of a perfectly good word.
