Like 92 when Perot took HW's votes, and 76 coming out of Watergate with a 2-year incumbent who was never elected. Some mealy-mouthed individual like Flake running third party and taking votes from the incumbent is not beyond the realm of possibility. Would be somewhat reminiscent of 92, although at least that basket case Perot actually stood for some things.
