abandoned them in Gulf War II and Trump abandoned them now.
we can argue whether or not any of those were the right moves but it certainly wasn't just Trump.
i had a pretty good discussion about the Kurds with four Turkish police officers i worked with on one of my overseas missions.
they explained that the Kurds, to them, are terrorists. they occupy a portion of Turkey and they want to secede and create their own state and use violence and terrorism to further that goal.
as the saying goes one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter and vice versa.
I'm not saying they are right or that the Kurds shouldn't be able to set up their own country but that's the way most Turks view it.
