Middle East overall. We should have pivoted a long time ago to the Pacific and China's belligerence there.
But Syria is and always has been a complex mess because of all the different parties. You've got Russia aiding Assad, who was wobbly. The Iranians have free passage and operation in Iraq now and they support Hezbollah. We're always ten minutes away from war between Hezbollah and Iran. ISIS hates Assad but operates freely still in parts of Iraq and Syria, Libya, more recently Morocco. Remember when we took our boot off the throat of Al-Qaida? They came back. But ISIS is more effective than Al-Qaida because they can draw followers through social media and the Internet generally.
Just taking off only invites bigger problems down the road, of all stripes.
