He was raised by very involved adoptive parents, but his adoptive father died of a heart attack when Cruz was 6.

What Cruz (and every other mass shooter I can think of) had in common was an absolute failure of parents, teachers, police, and mental health 'professionals' to identify and properly treat their mental illnesses.
