Martin expects Geist to play more minutes off the ball with freshman Xavier Pinson at point guard.
“He’s not shooting the ball as well as he can shoot the ball,” Martin said. “That’s a plus for us when you get to that point. As X continues to grow you can play him and Geist together.”
“One thing they said about Geist is he has a lot of spirit, plays with a lot of toughness,” he said. “He did a great job with his footwork around the rim, using his shot fakes to get guys off balance, because he is strong enough to make moves and make the next move. … To defend a guy you have to play arm’s length and hopefully don’t foul, but he knows how to use his length and force the referee in some situations to make calls. It loosens the defense.”
