Yes. WT deer never went extinct in Missouri and never came close to it. Neither did turkeys. Turkeys were traded to other States for ring neck pheasants and prairie chickens. The deer began to thrive, like all other types of wild game with the mechanization of agriculture. Increased yields and soil conservation measures resulted in tremendous increases in food and habitat. Harvest losses increased as machines replaced man and draft animals. Walk a field after harvest and you can see the grain loss.
