Dear Mr. Spencer,

I am writing briefly to ask you to reconsider blocking Dru Smith from becoming eligible to play this year at the University of Missouri. This past spring, you chose to part ways with your basketball head coach, looking for a fresh start with another coach. Shouldn't a 20-year-old kid have the same right? It appears punitive to keep Dru Smith from playing this year. He simply wanted the same thing that the University of Evansville wanted - a fresh start.

I hope you'll consider doing the right thing in doing your part to allow Dru to play for his new university this season. It would certainly speak well of you as an athletic director and your university to allow this immediate eligibility.

Thanks for your time and consideration, and good luck to your program this basketball season!
