Santos really becomes a big factor now. Can he get healthy? If he does get healthy, can he catch up for the time he's been down?
I see you talk about reports that he was struggling before he was actually out, but what does that mean? Was he really playing poorly in every aspect of the game? Was the foot limiting his athleticism so he couldn't do some of the driving and rebounding we expected? Was he unable to shoot the 3 at all?
At this point, considering Jontay and Santos, if we want to have a winning season a couple of things are very clear.
Watson is going to have to play like a MAN and hit probably more than his share of 3's.
Tilmon is going to have to take charge of anything inside 12 feet and score the ball...AND stay out of foul trouble.
This is going to sound bad, but I'm not all freaked out about the Jontay injury. I feel sorry for him and I wish the team had him, but I had long ago accepted that this was going to be a step back year in the rebuild. Therefore, I'm not going to freak out about the difference between 18 wins and 13 wins. What can happen is that guys that will be back next year can get the extra development they need in order for '19-'20 to start to be a real launchpad year. Especially Mitch, but the frosh too.
And so people don't come back to this and copy it when I get mad about a loss.....yes, if we blow a lead I'll still be aggravated. If we make silly mistakes, I'll still be aggravated.
