signing period was a "compromise" solution in an effort to curtail the last minute "shenanigans" on both sides - prospects and coaching staffs - relative to late decommitments and the rescinding of offers. Does anyone else reading this post know how many of Mizzou's recruits from last year's class signed in December 2017? That would be interesting to know. My guess is that schools like Alabama have most of their kids sign early, whereas other schools (like Mizzou) may not, with some prospects "holding out" for offers from more "prestigious" schools. I hate to be cynical, but that would be my guess. I hope I'm wrong.
