Actually the phrase comes from a 1954 Lightnin' Slim song called "Bad Luck Blues" which predates Hee Haw. Booker T (of the MG's) wrote Born Under A Bad Sign in 1967 using the phrase, which was first recorded by bluesman Albert King then by Cream and many others.
