In honor of the game this Saturday, I thought it might be interesting to test people's knowledge about the last 10 years in college football-- essentially the Saban/Crimson Tide era, as Alabama has won 5 national championships in that time and only finished out of the Top 5 in the final AP poll three times and never out of the Top 10.
So all these questions are based on a simple scoring system for those final AP polls 50 for 1st; 35 for 2nd; 25 for 3rd; 23 for 4th; 21 for 5th; 20 for 6th and on down to 1 pt for 25th.
1) Which power conference has placed no teams from 2nd-8th in the cumulative standings form 2008-2017?
2) Which two perennial powers-- each having won a national championship since 1995-- haven't appeared even once in the final poll's Top 25 in the past five years?
3) Of the four schools that left the Big 12-- Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska and Texas A+M-- only one appears in the Top 25 cumulative rankings for these 10 years-- at 25th. Which is it?
4) Ohio State is, of course, the top ranked B1G 10 school for this decade. Which school is 2nd?
5) The third ranked school for the past decade has never won a national championship. Who is it?
6) Texas, Florida and california are, of course, the top states for recruiting in the country. They each place a school in the Top Ten for this decade. Name them, and the order of their ranking;
7) And finally-- Numbers 25-26-27 on this list are schools that all begin with "M". Name them and the order they finished.
8) Bonus question-- based on the points system i established. Yes or No-- do the schools ranked 2nd and 3rd in the past decade have a combined score higher than Alabama?
