He was #1 in his HS class and captain of his HS basketball
team.
He got into Yale on his own merits.. not his connections.
I got an appointment to USMA.. while my father was a career Army officer, I was an A student, had 3 years of HS JROTC, lettered in 3 sports (ran on 3 state championship CC teams), edited the yearbook and served as a class officer every year in HS.
Did I get an appointment to USMA on my own or do I owe it to my pappy?
