Got accused of asking a woman I arrested for sex.

She and her husband were moving furniture out of her grandmother's house while the grandmother was south for the winter. Neighbor thought it was suspicious and called the police.

Several of us on the call and she comes back with a warrant out of KCK. I arrest her and am transporting her to the station for processing when her husband comes back with a warrant also. I circle back and pick him up so we don't have 2 units tied up. I had been alone with his wife in my car all of 2 minutes and called in my starting mileage and ending mileage both times, so every minute of my trip was accounted for.

I was very surprised to be called into the Patrol Bureau Commander's office about a week later and informed of the claim against me and I would be interviewed by a IA investigator.

About a week later I was called in again and told the claim had been withdrawn. Seems the IA investigator told them the only way to make a formal complaint was to verify it with a polygraph. If the polygraph results did not support their statements they would be charged with filing a false report.

I had already passed my poly like a rock star.

I started carrying a small cassette recorder after that.
