Couple of points: the fair market value of one's assets is not necessarily their net worth. FMV is simply what they would bring if sold in an arms length market transaction. Net worth is that number less debts and liabilities.
I.e. Kronke recently bought out the second largest Arsenal sharehholder for roughly 600 million British Pounds (something more than 600 million dollars). It strikes me as rather unlikely that he had that much cash on hand and he very likely had to go into debt to raise it.
