If Trump is not the target of the investigation then they do not need his statement. If he is then force them to get a subpoena. Most constitutional scholars believe the President cannot be subpoenaed so it would likely have to go to the SC.
There is absolutely no reason for Trump to cooperate with this political witch hunt. He should not interfere in any way but there is no reason for him to assist in any way.
