The issue is that Odom dropped the ball again as a Head coach come bowl season. Clearly a good coach would of won 2-3 more games and beat a floundering Texas squad missing some key personal in the bowl game.
That is the big thing about Odom he underachieves as opposed to over achieving or even being a push win wise.
Nobody was expecting a trip to the SEC title game or a BCS bowl, but heck at least show up and look posed and well coaches as opposed to sloppy and undisciplined.
I don't get why so many Mizzou fans are accepting of a incompetent coach making Millions of dollars. If he was your mechanic, investor or waiter and underachieved and gave bad service everyone would be calling for him to be fired or replaced.
But since he is a Football coach and many view it as jsut pure entertainment he get's a free pass.
To me anyone making that amount of money(and I know compared to others he is at the low end) should be under a zero tolerance policy...churn through COACHES until you get a good one and then Pay him enough to stay. It's not that hard to figure out.
Odom isn't coaching Pop Warner, High school or even Division 3 so the normal coaching rules and etiquette don't apply. He is coaching in the top conference in the Land and where football is the end all to be all, so wasting time on him to learn on the Job is a poor strategy and harmful to the over all program.
Believe me for 2+ million a year there are plenty of P5 assistants/G5/FCS/Division 2 coaches who can and would get it done better and quicker than Odom.
