Religion, and my professor was an Orthodox and observant Jew. This question was discussed at length. I posed to him the question, Have you considered that God considered every feasible scenario which allowed man free will, and determined which would result in the most people placing their trust in Him? He literally stood in the front of the classroom for 5 minutes trying to come up with an answer, until he finally admitted he had not.
I don't have all the answers. I have seen the hand of God moving in my life as sure as I have seen the movement of things on the earth due to the wind. I have never seen the wind, but I have seen the evidence of its presence, and know it exists. I know God exists.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
I know God will avenge all evil, and that all souls have an opportunity to live in eternal bliss forever.
"He who believes is not condemned, but he who does not believe (pisteuó-entrust his soul to God through Christ) is condemned already, because he has never believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
Children who do not reach the age of reason are not excluded from heaven. We see that in the recounting of the discipline imposed on King David for his adultery and murder.
And Romans says all are given some light, and to the extent they respond to it, they are given more, even the blind rich people in the U.S.
God took upon Himself all the suffering for man's sin. He paid for all sin, and all sin will be forgiven except for Blaspheme of the Holy Spirit, a.k.a. not entrusting one's soul to God.
All of the suffering in the flesh, all of the memory of the pain will be wiped out for everyone who goes to heaven. Eternity is without end, and this short time on earth is a mere "vapor", and then we are gone. Some to heaven, some to hell. Each according to their own choice.
