And I still don't see how he thinks Matheny should be fired.
Matheny is officially the winning-est Cardinal manager in history (with 1,000 games).
In an interview, Matheny was asked about the critiscism. He said he remembered being a player in spring training and seeing a plane fly over with a banner that said "FIRE LARUSSA & WALT, Save our Cardinals!" (the season after making it to the NLCS)
Matheny said he remembered that when accepted the job and knew what he was getting himself into.
