rates or to provide a monopoly currency; he supported it for a very limited sense re: exchanges of the many competing currencies (rather than just one).
Regardless, even if Adam Smith supported a central bank, how exactly does it make this article wrong re: what Marx supported and what exists today? Talk about a red herring. Is it possible that Adam Smith wasn't right about everything??
