democrats wanted the FBI deputy director to tell them everything they were investigating, what republican's reactions would have been? I can't imagine you would have been totally fine with it because "it's just oversight".

You know why they won't give the document they are asking for. It's an active investigation. No law enforcement on any level of government would share information about an active investigation that would then be shared with the people being investigated.
