treat next season as a rebuilding year.

IMO, we've currently got all the pieces needed to reach the NCAA tournament next year and maybe even win a couple games, EXCEPT ONE THING: a capable point guard.

Ramey would fill that void. A quality grad-transfer would fill that void, but there aren't many good options remaining. CM is going all in on Ramey at this point in terms of next season's tourney prospects. If he misses, then he's forgetting about next season and doing what's best for 2019 and beyond, hence Dru Smith.
