Currently, 11 scholarships are filled:
• Jontay Porter (checking on NBA draft grade)
• Jeremiah Tilmon
• Torrence Watson
• Xavier Pinson (hard commit)
• KJ Santos
• Kevin Puryear
• Jordan Geist
• Mitchell Smith
• Reed Nikko
• Javon Pickett
• Cullen VanLeer
These are the recruits/transfers that Cuonzo is reportedly pursuing the hardest:
• Courtney Ramey (4-star PG from STL)
• Ryan Taylor (highly touted SG grad-transfer from Evansville)
• Dru Smith (PG transfer from Evansville, would sit a year then have 2 years of eligibility remaining)
• Mark Smith (PG/CG transfer from Illinois; would sit a year then have 3 years of eligibility remaining)
• Blake Hinson (high 3-star PF who recently reclassified to 2018; the top-ranked recruit in KS)
(NOTE: let me know if I've forgotten any)
If Jontay stays, I think the 2 open scholarships will go to Courtney Ramey and Ryan Taylor. Taylor has interest from UCLA, Indiana, Arizona, and others, but I think he would choose MU if Jontay stays and Ramey commits.
• Jontay Porter
• Courtney Ramey
• Ryan Taylor
If Jontay leaves, I think Ramey and Taylor will go elsewhere, which means next year would be a rebuilding season (i.e. a lot is riding on Jontay's decision). I think 1 of the 3 scholarships would go to a PG grad-transfer, but I'm not sure how the other 2 would be filled. Perhaps...
• PG grad-transfer
• Dru Smith or Mark Smith (???)
• Blake Hinson or another grad-transfer (???)
Therefore, I'm interested in hearing opinions on how Cuonzo will fill our 3 open scholarships if Jontay leaves and Ramey goes elsewhere.
