Regardless, all that matters is what the perception was at the time. People knew Tilmon was an NBA caliber center and 5-star (or fringe 5-star), so they bought tickets. People assumed MPJ would play, so they bought tickets.
Of course, it's impossible to know how much ticket revenue can be attributed to MPJ vs Tilmon vs Cuonzo, etc... it's very possible that the increased ticket revenue due to MPJ did NOT offset the hundreds of thousands of dollars paid to his father.
