of the entire season. Getting a top 16 seed and the first two rounds at home. Pingeton has done well building the program incrementally in the 8 years she has been here, not quite as fast as I would have liked, but she has us to the point where we should be a top 25 team every year, which is a great accomplishment.
But she has hit the wall the last two years, with her two best teams, at getting past the first regional and getting to the sweet 16. And the primary reason is we have had to play on the road, and have gotten handled pretty easily by first Texas and then Florida State. I think this team is better than last year, and would have a better chance of upsetting a top 16 seed on their home court, but it's just a huge advantage to play those first two games at home.
So while a regular season SEC title would be really nice, and so would an SEC tourney title, those pale in comparison, IMO, to getting that top 16 national seed. And preferably at least a 3 seed if possible, so you don't run into a 1 seed in the sweet 16.
But RP has slowly but surely taken the program one step at a time. The next step is to not just make the NCAA tournament, but get out of the first weekend. And our chances of doing that rise dramatically if we play that first weekend at home.
