Great point guard or not, we would need to beat a UConn, Miss State, Notre Dame, Louisville, or Baylor to be "a final 4 team". On a neutral court, I just don't think we have that kind of talent.
I'm not clear why you are always so down about Aldridge. I think she has done just fine. No, she isn't one of the best 10-15 pure point guards in the country. But she is really good I think.
If this team has a weakness, it is in not having a bigger, taller, more athletic front court. Plus, we are getting pretty much no offense from the bench; if Smith or Porter or someone else has an off night there is no player off the bench to pick them up.
Hey, this wasn't the end of the world. Although it does open the door a little bit to a possibility of us not getting a national seed. We just got thoroughly whipped on the road by a top 20 team that is desperately fighting for a national seed, and was positioned worse than us for that before the game. That's no disgrace. They were motivated and playing for their lives. If they lost, I don't think they get a top 16 seed. Now they are back in I think, pending the results of the SEC tournament. We could afford a loss today and still be in good shape for a top 16 seed. They couldn't.
