Seems to me that MU will also be a more moderate place with eliminating bulldookie majors that tend to attract extremists and add little to nothing to Missouri (or national) economy. The more MU stays focused on business, engineering, agriculture, Heath- related degrees, law and the like, the better. arts and sciences at their core are okay but when some prof gets to make up a class subject (say Lady Gaga and the future of pop culture) things are no longer being done that serves Missouri at all.
MU has long needed to shutter programs and its attempt to be all things to all people. Let private schools delve into the bizarre and useless for those that want to live that life. I mean seriously. If the Ivy League was the only place offering/ studying gender studies, would the world notice or care?
