is about as clueless and unaware as anything you'll read in awhile.
It is also the MAN's story to tell. He lost his wife, his marriage, the intact family structure for his children. This quote acts as if he is an unimportant bystander who watched the accident, not a fellow victim within the impact zone.
Viewed as callously as the lens some view everything these days, she's arguably saying that the Husband is unimportant in this story. It's only the Wife's story to tell. She should get to control whether it is ever known, despite what it may have meant to him and his children.
