after he wins. The opposition timed the release of these charges too close to the election to replace him with a viable candidate. The GOP is sticking with him until he secures the seat and then will 'uncover' something damning that they can use get him to step down. That will allow the Republican governed a chance to replace him.

Yes it is sleazy but their fallback is that these were just unfounded allegations at the time of the election.
