Franken is a Minnesotan - why did you think he was NY

He did well in school, did some comedy stuff with Tom Davis. Went off to Harvard - came back and summers would do comedy with Davis, bummed around a bit with the Grateful Dead as a fan. Finished at Harvard and heard that Lorne Michael was hiring and he and his comedy partner Davis got hired as writers and bit performers. I think Franken wound up being the longest employee at SNL, but quit at one pt bc Lorne did not promote him to produced during an intermin period when Lorne left the show. Then he ran for, became a US Senator.
