jobs as tough as you can... is cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Would that be likely to improve the quality of the recruits to the police academies? Would it stem the tide of seasoned officers retiring early?

It would become a self-fulfilling prophecy of having low quality men and women to serve as policemen.

Of course, I'm sure that's ok for those of you wanting to do away with government and police anyway.

Darwinian survival of the fittest. God be damned... or those who would be God.
