Many on the right see all actions of the sort

as restrictions on the 2nd amendment. Now I agree that everyone that has half a brain knows that it preserves law abiding citizens' right to keep and bear arms. Some see this as government over reach in its own right.
Kind of like the bump stock thing- everyone that has half a brain knows that they are only designed to modify semis in to the equivalent of a fully. Yet when the left tries to restrict or eliminate them, it is howled from the right that the left is simply looking for additional gun control:
