like this earlier in the season, none of the "fire Odom" talk would have started in the first place. But what I and everyone else saw at the beginning of the season was a team that made mental errors galore, didn't know how to tackle or wasn't interested in doing so, and basically didn't look all that interested in competing.
As far as yesterday's game is concerned, it appears that Florida didn't get the message that our pass defense is abysmal and insisted on trying to run on us. I would bet that if the Gators would have committed to a pass-first approach when the game was still halfway competitive, the score would have been a lot closer. Even Zaire, who isn't supposed to be a great passer, was riddling our secondary whenever he threw medium and deep routes.
Bottom line, I still think the jury is out on Odom in terms of the future. Can he prepare his team from the very beginning of the season to be competitive against Power 5 teams? Can he recruit top-caliber players and do a better job of signing Missouri kids? Can he either develop an SEC quality defense or find a new DC who can (Alex Grinch?). Can he and his staff identify the guys who really want to put out maximum effort versus those who want to Iive off their reputation or Rivals rating? Bottom line, can he put a product on the field that will even come close to filling the stadium for each and every home game?
