It hasn't been mentioned but most of this is about his failure with the Generals in the USFL and his being rejected by the NFL to own a franchise. Remember, he was part of a lawsuit against the NFL and was summarily blackballed by the NFL from buying into a franchise.

He had a bid in to buy the Patriots for about $120 million and was rejected (he claims he pulled out of the deal). The Patriots are now worth $3 billion and he's looking to punish them for that.
