Why do flag waving Christians ignore these scriptures?

1 John 5:19
19 We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.
Why did Jesus never dispute Satan's ability to grant Jesus authority over the kingdoms of the world?
Luke 4:6
6 And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to.
So why would Christians pray to an idol of the state that the New Testament clearly shows is under Satan's control?
Then those crying about NFL players kneeling
2 Timothy 2:23
Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels.
