"Snyder was shot and killed in the Green Park area of South County in October 2016. Many residents of Arno Drive where the shooting happened say that day has never really left the neighborhood. Many flags and ribbons to honor Snyder are still up.

Nearby there is a park named for Snyder."

I drove past a sign today in Shawnee and had to stop on the roadway, back up, and read it again. "Donald B. Gamblin, Jr. Park"

Don was a friend of mine who lived a few blocks from me. His wife worked with my brother-in-law at another police department. Don was killed by a driver who was drunk and doing cocaine (and who knows what other drugs) while Don was conducting a traffic stop on I-435 near Johnson Drive.

This also makes me think of Deanna Rose from Overland Park PD and who was over-powered by a guy drunk and high on nitrous he had stolen in a dentristy office burglary. My wife worked witb Deanna, who wanted to be a police officer since she was a child. Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead is named in her honor.

I guess the consolation prize for getting killed in the line of duty is getting a park named after you.
