The problem was our incompetent AD at the time.
Remember, there were people who assumed the same thing about our basketball job when KA was the coach. They assumed/claimed the job wasn't attractive because, if it were, we wouldn't have hired a loser like KA. There were others who asserted that we wouldn't be able to hire a quality coach (if we fired KA) because of what happened in 2015. Of course, they were all proven WRONG when we hired an established P5 coach and landed a top 5 recruiting class within a few months.
The difference was having a competent AD.
The "2015 stuff" you mentioned doesn't matter anymore. It has absolutely no impact whatsoever on our ability to recruit or hire top coaches. If it did, we wouldn't have a top 5 recruiting class in basketball right now.
