can't have little kids having fun when somewhere a drug dealer is threatened. In reality the protestors have threatened Frontenac Plaza up the street and the cops don't want to give a reason for thugs to descend and break windows and threaten people who have nothing to do with this crap
Ladue Street Festival Cancelled
Today, the City Council, Police Chief and I made the decision to cancel the first annual Ladue Street Festival scheduled for Saturday, September 23, 2017.
We are living in a fluid, challenging and historic time for our region. We want to be respectful to those who are exercising their right to protest, to law enforcement who are working to keep our citizens safe, to vendors who have invested resources into this event and need to plan, and to the citizens who want a carefree event for their family and friends.
Regardless of anyone’s political views, protesting and festivals are a wonderful part of our American story. They both deserve singular attention that, in current times, neither will enjoy if the festival is not peaceful.
Many thanks to all the volunteers who have worked to create an exciting event. We will keep you updated on future plans for this community gathering.
Mayor Nancy Spewak
