Honestly, it has increased my enjoyment.

Quick story:
In 2000 I was backpacking in Alaska and was talking with a guy who was a 9ers, A's and Cal fan from Berkley. Said when he retired he gave up following sports and it was the most liberating thing he'd ever done. I follow sports, don't really follow any teams anymore other than Mizzou.
