There are people out there who still believe smoking doesn't cause cancer and they point to scientists funded by the smoking industry back in the 80's as proof.

Backwoods rednecks who cook meth all day tend to not be very good at deciphering scientific data.

edit: as a perfect example, Mike Pence has publicly questioned whether smoking causes cancer.
