Sea water temperature is the factor which determines hurricane strength. The higher the temp, the stronger the storm. But sea water is not warmed by the air. It is warmed by the sun. More sun, either by solar activity or less cloud cover or both will raise the water temp. Forget greenhouse gasses. They just warm the air. And warm air rises. It doesn't sink into the ocean.
