again, setting statewide maximum minimum wages seems to go against the (theoretical) general conservative paradigm of smaller, less intrusive government.

Of course in this case, I guess they might somewhat paradoxically argue that they are using government power on a statewide level to force local governments to be less intrusive.

In any event, I think business are already raising wages on their own. My wife saw a sign at Chick-fil-A advertising $12/hr as starting wages.
