It most certainly is on MY side. Watching decades of our efforts to "win" somewhere, with hopelessly employed armed force, is the main reason for my views.
It just crossed my mind that even while serving my 1.5 years in VN I decided that it was not going to work and basically decided to get out of the army. I was right, even without knowing why. Now I know why.
