In the decade of the 1980's, MU and UNC faced off an implausible amount of times. And the matchups created some great games and moments, filled with very high level talent. Here is a quick recap:

Nov 27th, 1982
In only the 7th nationally televised game in program history, #15 MU defeats the defending national champions and #3 ranked UNC 64-60 in St. Louis to open the season.

Dec 30th, 1982
#12 ranked UNC wins the rematch in the championship game of the Rainbow Classic in Hawaii 73-58.

Nov 26th, 1983
MU loses 64-57 on ESPN on the road against the #1 ranked UNC.

Dec 30th, 1984
MU defeats UNC 81-76 to win the Hawaii Pacific Invitational.

Nov 29th, 1985
MU loses 84-63 to the #1 ranked UNC in the Great Alaska Shootout.

Nov 24th, 1988
#13 MU wins 91-81 over #5 UNC in the preseason NIT.

Dec 3rd, 1988
#8 UNC wins the rematch over #10 MU 76-60, this time in the Diet Pepsi Tournament of Champions in Charlotte.

Nov 26th, 1989
#11 MU wins 80-73 over #7 UNC in the championship game to win the Maui Classic.
