They seem to do it sometimes. For years we were guaranteed a Louisville game and Indiana. It seemed very unfair to always get not only a hard game but a hated rival.
In 2012, look at the bracket. We were top 1 seed and had a much tougher path to the championship than kU. We finished 38-2, but we naturally had to play Louisville and a very good Indiana team. They beat us on the buzzer beater. Had that not happened , I think they finish 40-0. The committee may set that up for interest and ratings. Bill Self saying he never will play MU would probably prevent it from happening.

I remember in 2012 we also got Iowa St with Royce White and Baylor as well. We whipped up on the Big12 to win #8 NC.
RoY Williams has been lucky the NCAA has been toothless with violations. They have prospered well. In 14 years, Roy has won as many championships as kU has in 78 years of the NCAA tournament.
Wonder how many kU fans would trade Roy's accomplishments at UNC vs Self st kU?
I'm taking the championships any day.
