I'm referencing the inexplicable personal loyalty many on this board have for the man.

I didn't think Americans went for personal allegiances, but I guess I was wrong...

In one of his songs John Lennon wrote that "God is a concept by which we measure our pain." His point being that peoples' devotion to religion is often correlated to their fear and distress.

I think that explains a lot of the Trump phenomenon. Those folks are lost in a changing world and are looking for a savior. Trump thinks, acts and talks just like they do and they love him for it.

Unfortunately for them that approach works about as well in government as it does in the modern world.

At first I had sympathy for their plight but now I don't. There's a reason Trump and his base are being left behind: They need only look in the mirror...
