As you can see, there's a huge disparity in competitiveness between the East and West division. The West is the toughest division in the P5, whereas the East has been the easiest (2015) or 2nd easiest (2016) division in the P5 over the past couple seasons.
According to Sagarin's model, teams from the West were 8 points (2016) and 11 points (2015) better than teams from the East, on average. That's a huge differential considering home-field advantage is typically less than 3 points. In fact, it means you would have a better chance of beating an East team ON THE ROAD than a West team AT HOME, on average.
We are very fortunate that we only have to play 2 teams from that division per year, and that 1 of them is Arkansas.
