I don't think much has changed really.
People like to think they care, but when you have guys getting killed on their 4th, 5th, 6th or even 7th deployments to unending wars with mixed (at best) results, how good should Americans feel about themselves?
Why have they allowed this to happen?
The whole "Thank you for your service" thing is bull****, a self-rewarding FAP for the person saying it.
If Americans really want to 'thank' our military, they should protect it from stupid politicians and failed policies. Thank yous at the airport do nothing to alleviate the danger and hardship imposed on them and their families.
It means nothing. Zero.
And no, I'm not the only military person who feels this way...
