Defendants who are guilty take measures to conceal their guilt. If they have inside knowledge of the investigation, that helps them avoid making mistakes in the cover up process.

To illustrate that point consider this: Most people who are charged with crimes would love to have a bug in the prosecutors office so they can listen to the prosecutors discuss the evidence. True or false.
